For a large majority of caregivers in Canada, those who step into the caregiver role are family members or loved ones, caring for someone in their lives who has fallen into failing health. For Vicki, the person she cares for, was initially a stranger. A home-share provider, Vicki has opened her life and her house to care for Matthew, a young man on the autism spectrum who has aged out of government care. Under her care she has seen him evolve, grow, and in turn has taught her all that goes into being a caregiver.
