When Zafira’s eldest uncle couldn’t live on his own anymore and went into care, he longed for the flavours and festivities that he once enjoyed, and that connected him to his Ismaili roots. She wants to treat him to a home-cooked meal of traditional chicken akni, a dish that will also serve as an offering at the temple, to honor the 25th anniversary of the death of her grandmother, and his mother.
