Talking with parents about their end-of-life care options can be one of the hardest conversations to have. It’s also one of the most important. By having “the talk” we can be proactive and deal with difficult issues well before they develop. Plan ahead to make the discussion as comfortable as possible. Think about who should be present, what you’ll discuss, and why it’s important. Find out what your parents’ needs are and what resources are available. Both you and your parents are seeking options for safe and supportive living. With a little planning and effort we can make the conversation around long-term care easy, effective, and painless.
