When Paula’s sister Carla was diagnosed with ALS, it was the one diagnosis she feared most. But she committed to supporting her every step of the way. At first Carla’s care needs were minimal but as her disease progressed so did Paula’s role in her care and the physical and mental toll it took. After Carla’s eventual passing Paula took time to recover both physically and mentally and though the emotional scars were deep she was left with a deep appreciation for their time together.
